Ben Poston
Councilmember Benjamin Poston is a dedicated community leader known for his unwavering commitment to the residents of Roberts, Idaho. Born and raised in Anaconda, Montana, Ben's roots in the state shaped his values of hard work, community service, and dedication to improving the lives of others.
While attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, Ben met his beloved wife, Karol. Their shared values and aspirations laid the foundation for a lifetime of partnership and mutual support. In 1978, they made the decision to put down roots in Roberts, where they raised their four children.
After graduating from the University of Montana with a bachelor's degree in political science, with minors in economics and history, Ben embarked on a career in public service and community development. His early professional experiences as an operating engineer at a hospital and later in the Health Department provided him with valuable insights into the needs of the community, particularly in healthcare and public health.
In 1996, Ben's passion for serving his community led him to serve as a councilmember, and later as mayor until 2004. During his tenure, he faced challenges such as the Flood of 1997 with resilience and determination, demonstrating his ability to lead in times of crisis.
Following his mayoral term, Ben continued his service as a councilmember, emphasizing the importance of community involvement and collaboration in local governance. In addition to his roles in local government, he volunteers his time at the Roberts Mobile Food Pantry, serves as a volunteer EMT and firefighter, and actively participates in various community organizations, including the Roberts Senior Center and the management of the Roberts Community Center.
Benjamin Poston's vision for the future of Roberts is centered around improving housing options to attract businesses and create long-term employment opportunities for residents. His strategic approach to community development reflects his deep-rooted commitment to the well-being and prosperity of Roberts and its residents.
