Big Improvements Coming to Roberts’ Water System!
6/24/2025
We’re excited to share that the City of Roberts is taking a major step forward in improving our community’s water quality thanks to a $5.4 million grant from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
Project Overview
The goal is to remove naturally occurring manganese from our drinking water using a greensand filtration system, a proven technology that uses treated sand to trap manganese and other minerals.
Current Status:
We’ve just completed the bid opening for procurement of the filtration equipment—a key milestone. Next steps include finalizing equipment orders, preparing the site, constructing the treatment building, and receiving and installing the filters.
What’s included in the project:
- Newly constructed water treatment building
- State-of-the-art greensand filters
- New pumps, pipelines, and a backwash holding/dispersing tank
Additional benefits:
- Iron reduction through enhanced filtration.
- Elimination of stubborn black sediment (“black sand”) from sinks, tubs, and laundry
- Improved water taste, clarity, and odor
- Protection for your plumbing and appliances
Why it matters:
Clean, safe water affects everyone. This investment ensures better quality now, supports future growth, and helps the city meet regulatory standards.
Next steps:
As soon as equipment is ready, we’ll begin site prep and construction. Updates will be shared via our website and social media.
Together, we’re building a stronger, cleaner water future—one step at a time.
